Day 5 – My favorite birthday

This one’s really easy: my favorite birthday was last year’s. It was the big three-o for me and I felt like it needed to be special. I’m usually not a big birthday celebrator, but somehow this one couldn’t go by unnoticed. So, a few days before my birthday, I got up in the middle of the night (well, almost), drove to my friend Sjoukje and we got on the Thalys to Paris. We had a great time in Paris, but the best day was… yes, my birthday! Disneyland! I’m a huge fan of anything Disney and if I had my way I would be visiting Disneyland at least five times a year. So, needless to day, being in Disneyland on my birthday made it a very special day!

Day 4 – A photo of an animal I’d like to keep as pet

There are actually two animals I would one day like to keep as a pet – though I’m not sure one of them qualifies as “pet”.

The first, a dog:

Aiko going binky

I filmed this last night and I just had to share it! This is my bunny Aiko doing binkies on my bed – I love it when she does this, it means she’s happy and having fun :)

Day 3: My favorite book

Since I’m a huge book lover, this one should be easy for me, right? Wrong! Asking me to pick my favorite book is like asking a mother to pick her favorite child. It just can’t be done! There are so many different genres, writing styles and stories that I have a list of favorite books, and I like each of them equally.

Ok, well, maybe not exactly equally. But almost anyways. One of those books is “Son of the Shadows” by Juliet Marillier.

Day 2: The meaning behind my blog name

Those of you who have browsed this site might have already read it, but “In Her Eyes” is my reference  to perspective. I’ve noticed that a lot of times people present certain things as “the truth”, while in reality it is actually their perception of the truth. In their eyes what they’re saying is absolutely true, but in someone else’s eyes it might mean something completely different. We all have our own view on the world, and this blog is mine.

Product review: wax melts

I’d read about wax melts at another blog some time ago, and made a mental note to try them myself. I love it when my apartment is scented with a delicious smell, but it can be hard to find the right product with the right scent – often scented candles, oils or other products can smell very artificial, which is not what you want in your home of course!

Continue to read more about my quest to find the perfect wax melt… it wasn’t easy!

Day 1: Introduction + 10 facts about me

The kick-off of the 30-day blog challenge!

So… A little bit more about me. I’m a 30-something-year-old (only just though ;) ) from Holland. I enjoy a lot of different things – sometimes I believe I like too many things, as it can be hard for me to really focus on one thing. This blog seems to be no different!

To name some of the things I like: cooking, watching movies, traveling, photography, listening to music, baking, graphic design, tennis, dancing, horseback riding. And that’s even without the things on my “to-do” list… See what I mean?

“Forever” book preview

I was thinking of doing a book preview on “Forever” by Maggie Stiefvater yesterday, and what do you know? Maggie posted a contest on her blog to do with the trailer of this book. That can’t be a coincedence, so I had to enter! Read the rest of this entry

Welcome to In Her Eyes!

Hi everyone and welcome to my blog! After a failed attempt at keeping a blog, I realized I missed the opportunity to share and write things, hence… attempt number two! Let’s hope it will go better this time ;)

I’ve chosen May 1 for the “birthday” of this site as it is a date I can easily remember; on May 1 2010, my parents and I drove to a lovely town in the north of Holland to pick up my bunny Aiko. In some ways it’s been a lifechanging event having her around (a good one!) and it has inspired me to pick up blogging again. More about Aiko later!

To help me get going with this blog I’ve decided to start a “30-day blog challenge”. I will probably not be writing every day (this blog is meant to be a hobby, not a second job ;) , but I will use the topics to get into the writing mood and to introduce myself a little. There’s a special page in the top menu that contains all challenge related posts.

Well, I hope you’ll like this blog, feel free to leave me a comment or a question!
